A Veritable Lack

There is nothing quite like the first taste of mushrooms to start off a new year. These guys are known for their Truffle like rarity and rich earthy flavor. I love them, anyone with half a taste-bud typically will too. But as the years go on, the flavor leaves a little something to be desired.

Maybe it’s the region is wearing on me again, it’s very isolating to be doing the wrong job in the wrong town with the wrong people around. I need to be closer to artists and further away from some parts of the past. I think there is a lot of trauma associated with growing, regardless of who you are.

But there are things that remain the same. Butter, flour, egg, salt, mushroom. It’s always the same ingredients, so why do they taste different as the years go on? Why am I not engaged in this anymore. What’s different. What’s missing?
